Media Journalism Course

Instructor-led Course for Fifth Grade Students

Overview:

This project is Session 1 of 10 of an instructor-led media journalism course  for the non-profit Girls for Technology. The audience was comprised of fifth grade students in the Young Achievers program at the Hartford, Connecticut YMCA. All work was completed on a volunteer basis.

My Role:

​Using the Girls for Technology logo and a list of topics provided by the client, my role was to:

  • Create an outline of 10 learning sessions that incorporates all of the topics supplied by the client

  • Establishment of learning goals and objectives

  • Content development for each session

  • Creation of ice breakers and student participation activities for each session

  • Graphic design (including overall "look" and templates for the presentation and printed supplemental materials as well as the presentations themselves and each of the printed components)

  • Presentation design and development

Supplemental Tools & Materials:

Material Synopsis

Creation of a brief synopsis of the information from this module to include in the students binders. This is produced for each session and result in a cumulative reference tool for the course as a whole.
